Box Score NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team's 2013 season came to close after a 1-0 loss to Caldwell in the semifinal round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex.
Philadelphia, who entered the tournament as the sixth seed, ends its season with an overall record of 7-10-3. The Rams were in the tournament's semifinal round for the third consecutive season.
Second-seeded Caldwell is now 12-5-2 overall and will face top-seeded Holy Family for the conference title on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1:30 in New Castle, Del.
The Cougars' Carissa Strye scored the match's lone goal on a free kick from 25 yards away at the 52:26 mark.
After the goal, Philadelphia was able to attempt four shots, two inside of the match's final minute, but could not get the equalizer.
Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made three saves in the loss for the Rams. Caldwell, Robin Franchi stopped four shots.
Philadelphia outshot Caldwell, 9-6.
