Volleyball Drops Conference Match to Georgian Court

PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (10-8, 5-4 CACC) suffered a 3-0 loss to visiting Georgian Court (16-5, 7-2 CACC) on Wednesday night.

The Lions took an early 3-0 lead in the opening set but the Rams came back to tie the score at seven. Trailing 9-8, Jefferson rallied for six straight points and its first lead. However, GCU responded with a 10-0 run for a 19-14 advantage. The Rams were able to cut it to three but the Lions finished off the set for a 25-19 victory.

Jefferson went ahead early in the second and was in front 6-4. Georgian Court then had another rally, scoring nine of the next 10 points for a 13-7 score. The Rams did not get closer than four points for the remainder of the stanza as the Lions won the frame, 25-18.

The teams went back and forth to start the third with six ties in the first 14 points. GCU then pulled away with a 9-0 stretch. The Lions went on to clinch the match with a 25-11 win.

- Junior Abigail Kress totaled seven kills, two service aces and four digs.
- Junior Lauren Kloos compiled six kills and junior Logan Dontell added four.
- Sophomore Molly Hand produced 19 assists while senior Alexis Leddy tallied 14 digs.

- Leddy moved into second place on the program's all-time digs list, passing Cassandra Peck (1,364 - 2004-07). She now has 1,371 and trails only former teammate Courtney Wensel (1,565 – 2015-18).

Jefferson heads north to face conference foe Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday, October 19 at 12 p.m.
