NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team was tabbed to place third in the South Division in the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Coaches Poll. The news was announced by the CACC on Wednesday.
The Rams picked up 71 points in the voting and received three first-place votes. They were just 10 points behind Georgian Court and Holy Family, who tied for the top spot with 81 points apiece. The Lions earned five first-place votes with the Tigers gathering four. Wilmington received the final two first-place nods.
In the North Division, Post and Caldwell split the top position, each picking up 89 points. Post (seven), Caldwell (six) and Felician (one) all garnered first-place votes.
In 2018, Jefferson took third in the South Division regular season. The Rams dropped a conference quarterfinal matchup at Caldwell, 3-1. Latifa Raheem, in her second season at the helm, has five of her top six point-scorers returning, including All-CACC honorees Logan Dontell and Alexis Leddy.
Jefferson opens the season on September 10 at Millersville.
