CALDWELL, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (23-10) saws its 2018 season come to a close on Tuesday night with a CACC Quarterfinals loss on the road to the Caldwell Cougars (15-16) from Caldwell, N.J. by a four-set final of 19-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-11.
The Rams came into the match as the No. 3 seed in the CACC South while the Cougars earned the home court advantage with the No. 2 seed in the North Division.
-Senior Courtney Wensel, a 2018 All-CACC Second Team selection, led Jefferson with 11 kills as the only Ram in double figures. She totaled 1,578 for her career to finish second on the school's all-time leaderboard.
-Sophomore Abigail Kress followed her up with seven kills in the postseason affair.
-Junior libero and 2018 All-CACC Third Team honoree Alexis Leddy finished with a team-best 11 digs.
-Senior Alexandra Harrington, a 2018 All-CACC Third Team selection, recorded 27 assists in the loss. She finished her career with 3,906 total assists to sit second on the school's all-time leaderboard.
-Harrington and junior Amber Johnson each led the Rams with three blocks each.
-First Set (W, 25-19): Jefferson evened the score at 4-4 early and gained the lead on the next point and kept it for the rest of the set.
-Second Set (L, 25-15): Jefferson notched their highest hitting percentage of any set in the second set (.222) while Caldwell converted 15 kills on 23 attempts for a .522 team hitting percentage.
-Third Set (L, 25-21): The Rams committed 10 attack and five service errors in the third set which contributed to falling behind 2-1 in the match.
-Fourth Set (L, 25-11): Caldwell won the match behind a .323 team hitting percentage in the fourth set.
