PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (5-3, 5-0 CACC) took over first place in the CACC with a convincing 3-0 victory over Holy Family (4-5, 4-1 CACC) on Thursday afternoon.
The Rams dominated the contest, outshooting the Tigers by a 23-3 margin. They also had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Senior MaryKate Ulmer opened the scoring in the 12th minute, taking a pass from freshman Laural Erick, eluding the goalkeeper and shooting into the right side.
In the second half, Erick set up Ulmer again, crossing left and finding the senior on the doorstep for a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute. Ulmer finished off the hat trick in the 86th minute, picking up a loose ball, dribbling into the box and beating the goalie to the right side.
Graduate student Erin Tinneny had to turn away just one shot for her second shutout of the season.
- It was the 11th clean sheet of Tinneny's career.
- The win marked Jefferson's first over Holy Family since September 4, 2014.
- The Rams are the only unbeaten, untied team left in the CACC, sporting a 5-0 record in conference play.
