NYACK, N.Y. – Forward Angela Ferro (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) scored a pair of goals in the Philadelphia University women's soccer team's 3-0 win against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Nyack Saturday afternoon on Mosley Field.
Philadelphia moves its overall record to 6-1-1 and its conference mark to 5-0-0. The Rams have won their last three matches. Nyack is now 2-8-0 overall, 2-5-0 in CACC play.
Ferro opened the scoring in the 44th minute with a shot that went through the hands of Nyack keeper Jordan Jansen. Forward Andi Neski (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Ossining) picked up an assist on the eventual match-winning goal.
Forward Shannon Reardigan (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) tacked on an insurance goal, her second of the year, when she found the back of the net in the 66th minute.
Ferro took the team lead in goals after scoring the match's final goal in the 75th minute. She now has four goals in 2014.
Keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) stopped two shots to record her conference-leading sixth shutout of the year.
Jansen had nine saves for Nyack.
The Rams outshot the Warriors 19-6.
Philadelphia heads to Wilmington (Del.) for a CACC contest on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m.
