PHILADELPHIA - The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) rowing team announced its 2019 fall schedule on Tuesday. The Rams will race in four regattas throughout October and November.
The non-traditional portion of the 2019-20 season starts on October 12 with the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River. The team will head up to Boston for the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on October 19-20. Jefferson concludes the fall with two local regattas, the Head of the Schuylkill on October 26 and the Frostbite Regatta on the Cooper River on November 9.
"The team is looking forward to a challenging, yet successful, fall racing season," said head coach Chris O'Brien. "Opening up the season on the Schuylkill at the Navy Day Regatta gives us a great indication of our overall aerobic base, as we'll compete against top local universities. The team has set a high goal for themselves, hoping to medal at the Head of the Charles in mid-October. The Head of the Schuylkill is always a big performance race."
The Rams bring back 23 student-athletes from last year's squad that advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Dates, times and regattas are subject to change. Any updates will be posted on the rowing schedule page.
