PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (6-4-1, 5-2-1, CACC) defeated the Caldwell Cougars (4-7-1, 4-3-1 CACC) with a goal in the 96th minute on Homecoming this Saturday from Ravenhill Field to win by a 3-2 final.
Senior-Campbell tallied the first goal of the game in the 42nd minute. Senior Andrew Sauers made a throw in that sophomore Theophilus Ijeboi headed to Senior-Campbell, who finished again with his head. Both Sauers and Ijeboi earned assists on the play while Senior-Campbell scored his second goal of the year.
Just a minute later, Caldwell converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute to even the score before the half, 1-1.
Jefferson led shots and corners in the first-half battle, 4-3.
Caldwell gained a 2-1 advantage, just after the start of the second half in the 47th minute, when Sander Golmen took a free kick from 10 yards beyond midfield. After a deflection in the box, Erlend Aase finished for the goal, 2-1.
With 13 minutes remaining in regulation, junior Musa Kalombe dribbled the ball to the end line before making a pass to Rocha in front the goal for the score as the Rams found the second-half equalizer.
As the match went to overtime, Rocha played hero after junior transfer Charlie Livesey settled a long cross at the 18 before making a play and then a pass to Rocha at the top of the box. Rocha took the shot with his left foot to win the contest for the Rams, 3-2.
Junior transfer goalkeeper Kris Donaldson (W, 3-2-0) made two saves in the game.
Jefferson Men's Soccer returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 9 on the road at Holy Family. Action begins at 3:30 p.m.
