Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams (6-3, 1-0 CACC) dropped a 58-53 non-conference contest at the Gallagher Athletic Center to the West Chester University Golden Rams (6-0) on Wednesday evening.  PhilaU senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) led all scorers with 20 points and added five rebounds on the night.

The Rams struggled from the floor, shooting just 32% to WCU's 40% for the game.

WCU was led by Elie Daniel with 18 points and three rebounds.

PhilaU led by as many as five points early in the first stanza, as Frederick hit one of his four treys to make it 11-6 at 14:06.  However, WCU's Kehinde Roberts came back with a three of his own at 7:33 to give the Golden Rams their first lead 20-19.

The Rams regained the advantage with less than three minutes to go on a trey from sophomore guard Corey Francisco (Woodbridge, NJ/ Monmouth Academy) and PhilaU held on for a 34-31 edge at the half.

WCU's Daniel opened the second half with a three-ball to tie it at 34-34 and the Golden Rams did not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the contest.

PhilaU got within three trailing 56-53 with 27 seconds left to go, but 50% free-throw shooting for the game plagued the Rams all night as the final read WCU 58, PhilaU 53.

Ram senior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) added a double-double with 11 points/12 rebounds on the night.

PhilaU returns to action on Tuesday (12/8) at Goldey-Beacom College for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
