LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team began its CACC title defense with a dominant 5-1 victory at Chestnut Hill in the season opener on Wednesday.
GAMEPLAY
It took just 28 seconds for the Rams to find the back of the net as
Kelsey Butler drove straight on to goal and found a space on the right side.
Laural Erick made it 2-0 in the fifth minute, dribbling through the box from left to center and blasting it past the goalkeeper. Butler notched her second in the seventh minute with an assist from
Emma Kuciapinski, giving Jefferson a quick 3-0 advantage.
The Rams' flurry continued with Kuciapinski recording a goal herself in the 16
th minute off a pass from
Alessandra DiStefano. The final tally of the period came with just six seconds on the clock as
Anna Midock sent a long pass into the offensive end where
Kiery Spatz booted it in for her first collegiate goal. Jefferson finished the half with a 5-0 lead and a 17-3 advantage in shots.
The Griffins kept the Rams off of the scoreboard in the second and ruined the shutout bid with only 42 seconds to play with a shot that went in off of the post.
